Vonage Project

Vonage Network Operations Center and War Room

Vonage, Edison, NJ

Telecommunications Design and Installation

Challenge:

Vonage, a pioneer in the broadband phone industry, needed an operations center that would accommodate their growing digital phone network. Vonage tasked our company with integrating an AV system into a limited space for their new operations center, located at corporate headquarters in Edison, NJ.

Solution:

Vonage chose the Control Room Group for their highly specialized expertise in critical operations facilities. The main focus of the operations center is a new display wall made up of 16 50" video cubes in an 8x2 high array in a split configuration. While the cubes are independent displays, a virtually limitless amount of information can be displayed once they are integrated together in an array. This makes it possible to produce an all inclusive overview or snapshot of all the applications and information being processed in the Network Operations Center.

All video and PC source information is routed through a matrix switch which makes it available to display on the wall. In addition to sources taken directly from PCs, the display wall can also display sources from client server applications run on the network, as well as any video source (cable TV, VCR, DVD, etc.) The layout of these sources on the wall is completely customized.

Equipment Highlights:

This project required several AV technology integrations, including: media controllers; two 12" color touch panel, a 10" wireless touch panel; VGA; video; Ethernet; volume control and equalizer; control cards; and docking station.

Additionally: 61" plasma screen; 40" LCD flat panel displays; 50" video cubes, S-VHS; DVD, 12x8 matrix switch; multi-channel amplifier; 4.5" and 6" ceiling speakers; and operator console furniture and chairs.
